Sunday Part 2...If I kill my husband, there will be a confession in Part 3....
Well, well, well....let's start with the good news. We enjoyed the evening preaching. The song service was a bit much, but nothing we couldn't get accustomed to. The preacher, Chaplain Payne, is a Baptist Chaplain from Texas and his wife, Stephanie, is from Tennessee. After services, we decided to go to dinner with some of the people we met at Bible Study Friday evening, along with the Chaplain and his family. We went to a nice little place called Hosteria Dal Tiglio (Monty's for short) in Quinto Vicentino. The food was FABULOUS. I had Pennette (spicy penne pasta), Rob had steak and french fries, and the kids had spaghetti with ragu (meat). GREAT, I repeat, GREAT food! During dinner, Rob went out to the car to change Fisher. He laid Fisher in the back of the car, set the keys on the bumper, and changed him. When he was finished, he picked Fisher up and shut the back of the car. The keys were pushed into the car, which, you guessed it, is now LOCKED! Soooo, we are stuck in Quinto Vicentino (approx. 6 or so miles from base) without a spare key to the RENTAL car! PRAISE GOD that we went with some people from the church who were willing to give us a ride back to the base. However, our "Family Records" folder (with all our passports, birth certificates, social security cards, international driver's licenses, shot records, you name it...it's in there), IPAD, IPODS, MY WALLET, the KIDS COATS, THE CAR SEAT!!!!!!!, ALL inside the LOCKED car. Can you see the frustration on my face?!!! We finished our dinner, Bro. ROB Hampton gathered everyone together, and we prayed over the car and our valuables. May seems silly to you, but we are 8,000 miles from home, and basically, our LIFE is in that folder in the car, along with a few thousand dollars worth of electronic equipment. Chaplain Payne told Rob he'd pick him up in the morning and take him to the rental car place to get a spare key and bring him back to get the car. (VERY NICE of him! VERY!) We were told that an emergency, weekend, Italian locksmith would cost us about 150.00 euro ($203.77 USD). We did NOT want to pay that. PRAISE GOD, they let me on the base without my ID. Rob explained the problem, told them he was a K9 MP... no problem there. We got back to the hotel room and this was when Rob realized just exactly what all was in the car. He got a little panicky. We had the lovely lady at the front desk (who speaks fluent Italian) phone the locksmith company and explain. They offered to go unlock the car for 50.00 euro. We called Bro. Rob Hampton, who told us that if we could get them to unlock the car for that price, that we should take them up on it. Bro. Rob offered to come pick my Rob up and take him back to the car. They are gone right now. I am praying that all goes well, and my husband returns with our rental car and our valuables. Think I will stay up and watch the football game after all...... Gooo Packers!
