Well, I find myself needing to write my thoughts down now more than ever! I didn’t realize how important all this blogging stuff was until I’ve gone back and read some past blogs. Wow! Life just soars by. Abbi is graduating! How did this happen? Beautiful, precious Abbi. Just yesterday she was a carefree little girl who wanted nothing more than to sing in her way to her deer stand. She still sings and she still hunts, but she is a young woman now with goals and desires. I’m so thankful for how God has worked in her life through the years. I should be writing a book about that instead of a blog! Then there is Hunter. He is a handsome, passionate young man now with a strong will and a big heart. He got his learner’s license the other day. When did these kids become old enough for all of this? And Fisher. That sweet, funny little boy who says the wildest things and always knows how to put a smile on your face and on your heart. He’s 8 now and turning 9 this year. Why can’t time just stand still for a little while?!
We find ourselves in Texas now - Yeehaw!!! Back track a second...we stayed in bella Italia until January 2015 when we headed back to Fort Polk. Our Italy years were so kind to us. God is so good! He gave us the best friends and family there and we have held tightly to them. Even the ones we don’t get to see are held so dear in our hearts. ♥️🙏🏼 The two years and 10 months at Polk were wonderful as well. Our church family and friends there will always have a special place in our hearts also. Here in Texas, we’ve already made some friendships that we will carry in our hearts forever. We have a wonderful church home and family. God is just doing lots of things in my heart and I can see Him working in the kids and Rob also. The kids have been attending Southland Christian Camp for several years. One of the counselors is now their youth pastor here at our church. I’m so excited about all God has blessed us with! Abbi made some friendships and relationships at Southland that she has carried with her in her heart (and on her cell phone daily!). 😄 I mention it because you’ll hear more about them in the coming weeks; we have a trip planned. Yay!
We’ve been here, in San Antonio, for almost 2 months. We have a lovely home which we share with 2 dogs. We still have Starla - the best dog ever, and we adopted a shelter dog, Kane, because he reminded us so much of Vazul. (Vazul was Rob’s retired MWD whom we adopted and loved for a few years until he died of spleen cancer.)There is entirely too much that has happened in the time that I left off from blogging to now that I could never recount it all. So many things have changed, but this one thing remains the same - God is faithful. He has gone before us every step of the way and He will continue to go before us.
Because I really enjoyed going back and reading some old blogs, I wanted to store some more memories and funny things for the future...
Today, Fisher says, “If Sunday is suppose to be a day of rest, then why can’t I sleep in church on Sunday nights, huh?!” Well...
I’ll get back into the swing of this, but I must go read some more older blogs now...after I grab some tissues...
