Fisher (while sitting on the toilet - of all places): My so happy momma.
Me (straightening my hair): Good. My happy too Fisher. What makes you so happy?
Fisher: Uhhh....Jesus make my happy.
Me: Oh Fisher, Jesus make my happy too!
Fisher: I love Jesus. Abbi loves Jesus and I love God.
Me: God wants us to love Him.
Fisher: My wanna go see Him.
Me: If we love Him and ask Him to be our Savior, we can go see Him one day when we die or when He comes back to get us.
Fisher: Jesus coming back to get us. (And he leaves the bathroom.)
A FEW MINUTES LATER... Abbi and Hunter are finishing their breakfast and coming out of the kitchen when they encounter Fisher coming from his bedroom...
Fisher: My got my boots on! My goin to see Jesus!
Abbi: Ooooh Momma!!!! Did you hear that?!!!! (Abbi gets real excited about these things.)
(Hunter stands there with a cute smile on his face and a look that says he adores his brother.)
Can I just say God has been so good to me?!!! I think back (and then stop myself real quick before the devil gets a foot in there) to all the times I have lived for self and sin and I wonder at the love of a holy God for ME?! As a mother, you have to know this absolutely blessed my heart this morning. Here's what came to mind...
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And YOUR FEET SHOD WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
16 ABOVE ALL, TAKING THE SHIELD OF FAITH, WHEREWITH YE SHALL BE ABLE TO QUENCH ALL THE FIERY DARTS OF THE WICKED.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
There is soo much to take from these verses, but what stood out to me as little Fisher said he had his boots on was this. First, we are told to be strong, put our armour on to fight Satan. When we feel like we have done all that we can do, we stand firm on our armour: truth, righteousness, the Gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
As our feet go about their day today, they should be prepared to carry the Gospel of peace (Jesus is the Gospel of peace!). But it also tells us right after that, to make sure we have our faith, because there will be "fiery darts" that Satan will throw at us. They may come in the form of battles with family, friends, or others, a broken down vehicle, a stubbed toe....you get the idea, but we are to make sure that "ABOVE ALL" we have our SHIELD of faith. A shield protects during a battle. That tells me a few things: 1) There will be a battle 2) If you have a battle, you have an enemy!
3)You're gunna need protection So, a couple things I have to ask...are you standing firm? Do you have your faith? And finally.... GOT YOUR BOOTS ON?! Be ready to meet Jesus; it could be today!!! Fisher said he is ready! Are you?!
